Nostalther is an online role-playing game in which thousands of players from all over the world meet every day. In order to ensure that the game is fun for everyone, Nostalther expects all players to behave in a reasonable and respectful manner.
Nostalther reserves the right to stop destructive behavior in the game, on the official website, or in any other part of Nostalther's services. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to, the following offenses:
-
Names
- Offensive Name
Names that are insulting, racist, sexually related, drug-related, harassing or generally objectionable.
- Name Containing Forbidden Advertising
Names that advertise brands, products, or services of third parties, content unrelated to the game, or trades for real money.
- Unsuitable Name
Names that express religious or political views.
- Name Supporting Rule Violation
Names that support, incite, announce, or imply a violation of the Rules.
- Impersonation
Names that pretend to be another high-profile player for the purpose of fraud.
-

- Violating Language Restriction

- Disclosing Personal Data of Others

-
Cheating
- Bug Abuse
Exploiting obvious errors in the game or any other part of Nostalther's services. A bug is an obvious error of the game or any other part of Nostalther's services, which is surely not intended to be that way. Nostalther's services include among others all of Nostalther's other products and its websites.
- Using Unofficial Software to Play
Manipulating the official client program or using additional software to play the game. Manipulating the client program to try gaining an advantage compared to other players is not only extremely unfair but may also cause serious errors in the game. All in game actions are required to be performed by a human player, not to have a tool or program play it for you, this includes physical setups to press/hold keys. Doing so gives you an unfair advantage over players who invest time and effort to gain power. Using unofficial software such as a macro program or a so-called "tasker" or "bot" to automatically execute actions in Nostalther for you will lead to a banishment.
- Multi-clienting
Only one character may be connected at a time. Using multiple devices to connect multiple characters is not allowed.
- Note
Using exploits like "X-logging" in PZ may be considered exploitation and multi-clienting, or bug abuse resulting in account banishment.
-
Fraud
- Pretending to be Nostalther
Pretending to be a representative of Nostalther or to have their legitimation or powers. You must not, at any time, pretend to be a member of the Nostalther team or to have their legitimation or powers, particularly if done to threaten or trick other players.
- Slandering or Agitating against Nostalther
Publishing clearly wrong information about or calling a boycott against Nostalther or its services.
- False Information to Nostalther
Intentionally giving wrong or misleading information to Nostalther in reports about rule violations, complaints, bug reports or support requests. You are very welcome to use our report and complaint channels, but you may not abuse them to hand out clearly wrong information. By no means, may you give wrong information with the intention to harm other players or to escape a justified punishment.
-
Legal Issues
- Hacking and Personal Data
Stealing or sharing other players' accounts or personal data or hacking an account is actually a real life crime and can lead to an investigation by the police if the original owner of the account decides to report it to them.
Apart from this, any attempt to steal a player's account or personal data such as spreading links in the game or on the website meant to trick other players into downloading a keylogger will lead to a long account banishment or even to the deletion of your account. should coincidentally get access to another player's account, e.g. because he treats his account data carelessly, you are required not to abuse this knowledge but should inform that player to secure his account.
- Attacking Nostalther Service
Attacking, disrupting, damaging, or threatening the operation of any Nostalther server, the game, or any other part of Nostalther's services. Trying to attack, disrupt or damage CipSoft's servers or any other part of a CipSoft service may not only lead to an exclusion from the game, but may also lead to an investigation by the police. Such behaviour includes for example DDoS attacks on our game servers to create lags or kicks, on the login server to prevent that players can log into the game or on the website server to hinder players on using the forum properly.
- Violating Law or Regulations
Violating any applicable law, the Nostalther Service Agreement, or rights of third parties. If a player claims in Nostalther or on the Nostalther website that he has done something or plans to do something that violates any applicable law he might get punished for it. The same is true if a player violates the Nostalther Service Agreements. Every player has to follow them at all times. Finally, the rights of third parties may not be violated by any action, statement or behaviour in Nostalther or on the Nostalther website.
-
Destructive Behavior
- Harassment
Comments and banter between players must comply with previous rules regarding statements in-game. "Baiting" insulting statements may also be considered harassment. Players should use the in-game ignore feature and attempt to settle disputes respectfully.
- Power Abuse
What is deemed "Power Abuse" may be determined at the gamemaster's discretion. Examples provided must be excessive and intentional to qualify as griefing.
- Blocking/Trapping
Blocking areas or creating traps in protection zones, such as depots or temples, is not allowed.
- Auction Spoiling
Placing high bids in house auctions with no intention to pay will result in a 7-day ban. Repeated offenses may result in harsher punishment.
Violating or attempting to violate the Rules may lead to temporary suspensions. Severe violations may result in permanent removal of characters and accounts. Sanctions are determined based on the seriousness of the violation and the player's record, at Nostalther's sole discretion.
These rules may change at any time, with announcements posted on the official website.
